MINUTES OF TOWER LAKES
PUBLIC HEARING
Date: June 19, 2000
Location: Village Office
Time: 7:06 P.M.

PLEDGE:
President Fitzpatrick called the public meeting on water rate increase to order. Trustee Jansing presented a proposal to increase the base rate from $17 to $20 per month and the usage rate from $2.10/1000 gallons to $2.50/1000 gallons. As a result of the increase the loan to purchase the system will be paid off by 2005 and then the system can accumulate additional revenue to enhance the infrastructure (e.g. add new mains). At the time the Village purchased the Water Company, it was aware that rates would not cover operating expenses. The system is currently operating at a deficit owing the General Fund $100,000. The goal of the proposed increase is to get the system to pay for itself. Even with the propose increase, the Village’s rates will continue to remain in the in mid-range of surrounding communities.
Trustee Jansing made a motion to increase the base rate from $17 to $20 per month and the usage rate from $2.10/1000 gallons to $2.50/1000 gallons. The motion was seconded by Trustee Kuskowski and followed by a roll call vote: AYES: Trustees Aitken, Cantieri, Heagarty, Jansing, Kuskowski, and Parro. NAYES: None.
The Public Hearing ended at 7:28 P.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
Madeline M. Chulumovich
