Urban Forestry

Tower Lakes is proud to be recognized since 1995 as a Tree City USA by the Nation Arbor Day Foundation. Our mature urban forest is one of the distinctive features which makes our town a desirable place to live.

Invasive Buckthorn is a menace to our urban forest. To volunteer to help fight it or to learn about our plans to reduce Buckthorn, call Tree Commissioner Tom Hannagan at 847-526-9192. Also be sure to read this article published by the Minnesota DNR.

The following is a photographic tour of trees in Tower Lakes recommended for local planting by our Village Arborist, Rich Berglund.
